Sourdough Burger Bun

Serves 6 x 110g soft crust burger buns

A soft sourdough bun suitable for burgers, pulled pork or sandwiches



170 g Sourdough Starter

170g Milk (Warm)

270g Strong Flour

9g Sea Salt

15g Sugar

57g softened butter



Egg wash

Sesame seeds






Combine Starter & milk in mixing bowl and mix with paddle on low setting for 3 minis

Add Flour, Salt & Sugar

Switch to dough hook & mix until combined into a dough

Add softened butter, mix on high speed for 10 mins (until windowpane effect is formed)

Cover dough & rest for 4 hours, stretch and fold 3 times, once per hour

after 4 hours, divide into 6 equal parts approx. 110g each

Roll into balls, flatten slightly

Place on baking tray, 2-3cm apart

Allow to prove for further 4 hours

Brush with egg wash & sprinkle sesame seed on top if you wish

Bake in preheated oven at 190⁰C for 20 – 25 mins
